Basically, I am Overwhelmed by Brackets
So, when filling your brackets out, what is your method to approaching March Madness. Do you choose the underdog, and hope that Cinderella finds that glass slipper and carries you? Do you stick with the seedings? Which seeding match ups do you think are more volatile, and are more at risk for an upset?
dook wants to know...do tell! I know you want to visit the bedside drawer again, but we must curb that for now, IT'S TIME FOR MARCH MADNESS MY FRIENDS!

Basically, I am Overwhelmed by BracketsI filled out several brackets on ESPN in anonymous leagues just for fun - using various methods. I was testing what would work best.... Well, neither one worked really well. Methods I used: - First gut pick. These tend to have way too many upsets so don't do well. - Tweaked gut pick. Better but still too many upsets. - Based on kenpom ratings - did well in the first round but after that it tanked. - Rolling weighted dice (by seed) - I htink that one did the best. I should probably do one again, but I can't remember the method to the weighing, perhaps I need to come up with one again.... - Homer bracket. I did one going my Illini to the final four, just for the heck of it. Now that one tanked really fast... This year, I will probably do one by analyzing each matchup. The problem with that is that any wrong pick in the first round screws up the scenarios. Perhaps a top-down may work better. Need to think of that a bit more. I am thinking things like which teams are better under pressure, which woud favor teams with more conference tourney wins, or which teams are more dominant, which woudl favor teams with higher win margins. This year we have even more parity than last year and really anything can happen. Maybe I should just do several weighted dice brackets..... |

Basically, I am Overwhelmed by BracketsAfter seeing the brackets and how they have the mid-majors lumped together...I am going to have to pencil these out. |
