Latin procrastinatus, past participle of procrastinare, from pro- forward + crastinus of tomorrow, from cras tomorrow
Date:
    1588

transitive verb : to put off intentionally and habitually intransitive verb : to put off intentionally the doing of something that should be done
I just looked the definition of procrastinate, I wanted to see if my picture was there along side it. I was amazed, quite frankly, that it was not. Here's the scoop, I have put off doing my taxes until the week before they were do, had poor record keeping this past year, took off four days last week to get these affairs in order and filed, and here I sit last night cussing at my printer because it won't connect and give me what I need to file my taxes.

As i said, i was off last week for four days, now mind you, I work in a studio, where there are no windows...and we had the most beautiful spring weather here and I was actually off. Was I inside? Well if I was, I was farting around not doing what I need to do, taking a nap or playing on sportsline or messing with my online playlists, there are so many things you can do when you have something else to do. Then, I decided I needed to plant the little garden in front of my town house, one day won't kill me right? Well after one day, I was out there another and then decided to be out there again on Sunday as well.

Sunday was the real nightmare, as I was taking small fry to see his Dad, my key broke off in the deadbolt. My neighbors all jumped and offered to call a lock smith, I opted to call my Daddy however, who saved me. Okay, hurdle crossed, let's work on the taxes. I sit down at the computer and decide, nah, I have all afternoon, go to the garden store instead. After playing outside in my little garden...I finally opt to attack the taxes around four, now or never. I sit down and try to print something, my printer will not work. CRAP!! I run to Target and buy a new one, pick up my son and begin to open Turbo Tax...but wait, it won't launch. At this point I am on the verge of pulling my hair out of my head. I try numerous times to launch the program, only to find out once I go to online support and talk to a BOT...another blog...that they no longer support Mac OS 10.39 or lower...WHAT!!!! Well might as well hook up the new printer. I open the box, and am like WHAT!?!, this thing is missing software and has been used....bloody h3ll!!

After venting to a few friends either online or on the phone, I opt to go to bed.

Monday...Turbo Tax was great and helped me get the software I needed, but I entered in numbers wrong, and it would have been a $3000+ error in the favor of the state of North Carolina. Small Fry was jumping and in my hair, I simply could not think...I install the newly exchanged printer to print the documents for the return...I did efile but needed something...IT WON'T WORK...somehow i get the old one to print out...thankfully....

Now back to procrastinate, did I learn anything from this? Probably not...and now that I need to get my arse in gear and head to the studio...OH CRAP I AM LATE...Small Fry is not dressed yet running around in his Skid mark free briefs (BRAND NEW).

Procrastinate - Wait - OH CRAP It's Tax day!

This year we waited longer then normal (don't ask me why)...now I'm happily helping the economy with my return.

Now if I could quit procrastinating and fill out my daughters FAFSA forms for next year.

Procrastinate - Wait - OH CRAP It's Tax day!

I'm right there with you.  My accountant just finished up my taxes last night.  We go to look them over and sign our lives away tonight.  I guess my motto with pretty much everything is "Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?"  I seem to go through this situation every year.  At least I don't owe anything this year.

Procrastinate - Wait - OH CRAP It's Tax day!

Did my taxes in early February, but didn't send the money in 'til this morning.  Uncle Sam gets nothing from me 'til I want him to.  Still hurts, though.

PS: What is this refund I see people talking about?  Gotta find more loopholes.

I would like to start a new support group called P.A. (Procrastinators Anonymous) - been thinking about it for a while now, but I just haven't got around to it!!  Haha!

Procrastinate - Wait - OH CRAP It's Tax day!

We filed in early March.  I've been burned by early and incorrect 1099's in the past, and have found filing much earlier runs the risk of having to refile when the corrected 1099's arrive in mid-late February.  lol

All you had to do by law on April 15 was file a 1040 extension form good to June 15.  You can file a second extension good until August 15.  The IRS does not ask you to give cause for wanting the extensions.  They are automaticly granted with the filing.  To get an extension beyond August 15, you must show cause, and you don't want to go there if you don't have to.  The upside is you don't have to complete all your schedules.  The extension form is one fairly easy page.

The catch with the extensions is you need to estimate and pay with the extension any taxes you think you may owe.  Of course, if you are going to ge a refund, that isn't an issue.  Otherwise, you write a check on the high side of your estimate owed to avoid penalties and interest and submit with your extension.  The other catch is you still have to file your taxes at some point and the weather in June and August is even better.  lol

congrats for getting your taxes done.  You now qualify for a late Spring or Summer refund.

Procrastinate - Wait - OH CRAP It's Tax day!

Mom,

If it will make you happier, I'll let you fill out my 2008 return next Winter.  LOL  I'll even reduce my withholdings now so you can help out the economy even more.

Procrastinate - Wait - OH CRAP It's Tax day!

Luckily I'm the procrastinator and my wife's the one who makes sure things get done on time, on top of that she's great with money. Without my wife I'm sure I would have been late! Thank God for beautiful and smart Carolina girls!

Procrastinate - Wait - OH CRAP It's Tax day!

the girl that does my taxes had been unusually busy lately.  she kept asking me when i was gonna file.  even thought that i dropped her.  i just was in no hurry to get them filed as my tax picture changed dramatically from last year to this year.  the really cool thing is that i got so much more than my ex.  problem of course is that it's pretty much spent.  but at least i got some back.  barely signed the papers last sunday and i already have the cash in my account.  get paid this coming friday, then my stimulus comes in two weeks.  i'm getting paid each week for the next four weeks!!!!  i'm about to blast
